MADISON, NJ - The Borough's largest annual event, Bottle Hill Day, slated for Saturday Oct. 1 is a rain or shine event drawing thousands of people to Madison's downtown and the layout and scope of this year's program is even bigger.

The rain forecasted for Saturday is not stopping the enthusiasm in town. "Bring your rain gear and galoshes if necessary," said Lisa Ellis of the Madison Downtown Development Commission who organizes Bottle Hill Day. "Come on down to the party and enjoy the day."

And yes folks, there is a tent over the beer garden.

Over 250 vendors will line Main Street, Kings Road, Waverly Place and Central Avenue spanning six blocks as well there are four stages of entertainment, a very popular adult beer garden, three kids amusement areas and food stations/trucks.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce will simultaneously host a car show on Kings Road at the corner of Prospect, while the Morris & Essex Kennel Club will host its All-Breed Match Show at Dodger field adjacent to the downtown located at 49 Central Ave.

New this year is a "Park and Ride" Shuttle which will shuttle attendees into the downtown area from the Madison Community Pool parking lot located at 105 Rosedale Ave. The shuttle service will run 10a.m. to 5p.m. running a continuous loop.

The Bottle Hill Day event runs from 10a.m. to 5p.m. with the beer garden and main stage hours extended to 6p.m. both located in front of the Hartley Dodge Building at 50 Kings Road.

"While the forecast for Bottle Hill Day calls for a chance of showers it will not dampen the spirit of day and we expect to see the usual great turnout," said Mayor Bob Conley Friday morning.

Bottle Hill Day was rescheduled in 2015 because of very high potentially damaging winds that posed a safety concern to patrons and vendors, the rain did not play a factor in the decision stated organizers at the time. "High winds and lightening posing safety issues are our only concerns weather wise," added Ellis.

"This day is the official Fall kick-off in Madison to a season full of fabulous downtown events," said Karen Giambra Executive Director of the Madison Chamber of Commerce.  "Thousands of people get to enjoy our town, our shops, our restaurants and see all that Madison has to offer."
