DENVILLE, NJ - Riverview Elementary School celebrated Arbor Day this year the planting of a tree donated by the Denville Green Sustainable Committee.

The school chose an Eastern Red Bud and planted it in the North Parking Lot. Denville Superintendent of Schools Stephen Forte, school principal Christina Theodoropoulos and Denville Mayor Tom Andes each spoke at the event.

They told students about the history and importance of Arbor Day and pointed out the value of trees to our lives. Susan Filauro, a member of the Denville Green Sustainability Committee, read a poem that embodied the importance of Arbor Day.

The annual tree planting at one of Denville’s three schools has become a highly anticipated event for the students.
