Summer Festivals to Enjoy with the Family June 2-4

No plans yet for this coming weekend? Don’t worry because we have you covered. Here are a few of the area’s best festivals and fairs happening all around Northern New Jersey from June 2 to June 4.

Spring Fest

Teanack’s annual festival presents the perfect opportunity to not only celebrate the season, but also to bring attention to environmental concerns. This year’s theme is Pollution Prevention. Besides educational projects on the theme, the event will also have music, crafts, and family-friendly activities. The event is held rain or shine on June 4 from 11 am to 5 pm.

Seacaucus Street Fair

All weekend long, the Seacaucus Street Fair will be taking over the streets around Seacaucus Plaza. Among the highlights of the event will be street performers, live music, carnival style games, and lots and lots of food. Plan to go Friday night to take part in the wild DJ dance party.

Crawfish Festival

If you live in the Northern New Jersey area, you’ll want to find time to stop at the Sussex County Fairgrounds for the 28th Annual Crawfish Fest. The festival is held June 2 through June 4 and is the place to be for good food and good music. Michael’s Crawfish Krewe is the featured vendor with specialties such as Po-Boys and Boiled Crawfish with Corn and Potatoes. On four stages, blues, brass, jazz, and Cajun bands will be providing constant entertainment.

St. George Strawberry Festival

June is the perfect month to celebrate one of the state’s favorite fruit: strawberries! The fest is on June 3 from 9 am to 3 pm and will be held rain or shine. Pick up a basket or two of locally grown strawberries or enjoy one of the strawberry-themed dishes such as shortcakes, smoothies, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Face painting and a bounce house will be available to entertain the little ones.

East Brunswick Spring Fest

East Brunswick’s annual festival combines the best of the area’s food, music, and artistry. On June 3 from 10 am to 6 pm, come by the East Brunswick Community Arts Center to view and buy original work from local artists. Popular area food trucks such as Empanada Guy and House of Cupcakes will be serving up goodies all day long. The rain date is scheduled for June 4.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...
