Visitors to Morristown's Mansion in May Chooses M. Erbs Fine Gardens of Denville as Tulip Award Winner

MORRISTOWN, NJ - As the 2017 Mansion in May comes to a close, the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center has announced the winners of its Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens 2017 Tulip Award. Winners of this prestigious award were chosen by the thousands of visitors who cast their vote for favorite interior and exterior space at the end of the tour of the Alnwick Hall - The Abbey.

This year's Mansion in May Tulip Award Winners are Curren Design Associates of Mendham and Plumbery Designs Inc. of Florham Park for their interior design space and  M. Erbs Fine Gardens of Denville for their landscape design.

Winners, Curren Design Associates and Plumbery Designs, used the exposed brick and high ceilings as inspiration for their space, titled The Left Bank Loft.  According to Richard Barr of Plumbery Design, the old adage of "less is more" was used in their design concept.

"We knew our design inspiration - a loft apartment with an industrial flare," said Michael Curren of Curren Design Associates.  "The "Left Bank Loft" gave us the perfect opportunity to show how you can live comfortably and elegantly in 460 square feet. A strong use of color and mid-century modern furniture mixed with industrial elements, created a sophisticated yet functional space, essential in a studio apartment. Add a taste of Paris to the mix and hopefully we have created the perfect urban escape".

M. Erbs Fine Gardens used The Abbey's architecture as their inspiration when designing their garden.

"We designed a garden that could have been there when the original owners occupied the grounds but decided to counter the classical parterre garden with Bisco Smith’s contemporary urban monolith as the center of it all", Keith Walloch of M.ERBS Fine Gardens. "In good times and bad, everyone on our team has benefited from the incredible staff of nurses at Morristown.  When given the opportunity to be part of such a great cause, we jumped right in."

The Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center has presented Mansion in May for 43 years. This year, the funds raised will go toward the establishment of the Center for Nursing Innovation and Research at Morristown Medical Center. The initiative states that the Center will "be a place to spark ideas for creative projects by MMC nurses to improve the health of patients as well as unlock the power of continuous innovation to change practice".

"We are most grateful to all our interior and landscape designers who have contributed their time and talent to create the most magnificent spaces and gardens at Alnwick Hall - The Abbey.", said Katie Nolle, General Co-Chair of the Mansion in May.
