DENVILLE, NJ – Residents of Denville Township re-elected Steve Kovacs to the Morris Hills Board of Education, and Dino F. Cappello and James Kim to the Denville Board of Education on Tue., Nov. 3. The unofficial tallies had Kovacs with 1,878, while Cappello and Kim garnered 1,708 and 1,603, respectively.
The numbers came from an election results website operated by the Morris County Clerk’s Office. It stopped providing vote counts at 9:55 p.m. without noting whether there would be subsequent updates.
Based on the 9:55 p.m. results, it appeared that incumbent Morris County Freeholder Tayfun Selen, a Republican, would lose to Democrat challenger Cary Amaro by a tally of 52,430 to 44,181.
The 9:55 p.m. numbers also showed incumbent state Assemblywoman Aura Dunn, a Republican, and incumbent state Senator Anthony Bucco, also a member of the GOP, losing to their Democrat challengers Darcy Draeger and Rupande Mehta. However, at about 11:30 p.m., Bucco said the vote-counting in Morris County was "not even close" to being finished in the county.
The election results will not become official until the Morris County Clerk certifies them.
