DENVILLE, NJ -- The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Denville/Rockaway and Boonton have partnered to organize a new and like-new children’s book drive, which is running now through March 2. Children's books for all ages, especially Dr. Seuss books, are being accepted so long as they are in good condition. Text books will not be accepted, however.
"One of the Seven Grand Initiatives for the 2018-2020 General Federation of Women’s clubs (GFWC) Administration calls for clubs to donate Dr. Seuss books," according to a statement issued by the organization. "It honors the tradition of GFWC clubs celebrating Read Across America Day every year. The observance, celebrated March 2 to mark Dr. Seuss’ birthday, was established to encourage teachers, politicians, community leaders, and families to show kids that reading is fun. GFWC clubs always step up to the challenge."
According to GFWC, more than 57,000 books have been collected over the past years and donated to local disadvantaged school children including schools in Newark, Irvington, Paterson and abroad.
Drop off sites for this year's book drive include;
Denville: Denville Public Library, SmartWorld Coffee, and Provident bank
Rockaway: Rockaway Township Library, lower level
Boonton: Boonton Coffee Co, 46W Hair Studio, Boonton Post Office, and ConnectOne Bank
