DENVILLE, NJ – Fifty-one people participated in the 2019 First Day Hike of Protect Our Wetlands Water and Woods (POWWW) at Jonathan’s Woods on a warm and dry New Year’s Day. The hikers marched from Old Beach Glen Road in Jonathan’s Woods to Hog Pen, a historic site adjacent to Jonathan's Woods. The group included visitors from Bergen and Hunterdon counties.

POWWW is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation organization and land trust based in Denville, New Jersey. Its mission is to protect wetlands, woodlands and potable water supplies throughout the Beaver Brook watershed in Denville, Rockaway and Boonton townships. POWWW identifies and supports land acquisition, provides site stewardship and offers public education programs.

POWWW’s next scheduled events include the Spring Wildflower Walk, the Birding Hike and a possible local pub crawl.
