DENVILLE, NJ -- The Northern New Jersey Kids Safe Community is offering free car seat inspections at six sites throughout Morris, Essex and Warren counties. According to the organization, four out of five car seats are misused. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable, they stated. Safe Kids Northern New Jersey, is led by Morristown Medical Center and works to keep children safe at home, on the road and at play.
To be safe on the road, kids need a safe car seat. Families can now get their car seats professionally checked by a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) at the following locations:
Denville Fire Department/St. Clare's Hospital at 2 Indian Road in Denville, open the first Monday of the month, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Shade Tree Garage located at 171 Washington Street in Morristown, open the second Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Chester First Aid Squad located at 100 North Road in Chester, open the first Tuesday of the month, 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month, 7 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Atlantic Ambulance Building at 120 Dorsa Avenue in Livingston, open on Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
In Sussex County, 5 West Shore Train in Sparta, open the fourth Monday of the month, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Pompton Lakes First Aid Squad located at 700 Ramapo Avenue in Pompton Lakes, open the third Monday of the month, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
