DENVILLE, NJ – It’s time to clean out your medicine cabinets, again! This year’s second Operation Take Back day will occur on Sat., Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Operation Take Back is a biannual event coordinated nationally by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Law enforcement agencies on the state, county and municipal levels work together to host the event across the nation, said officials. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is partnering with the Hanover Township Police Department, Morris Plains Borough Police Department, Morris Township Police Department and Randolph Township Police Department to encourage the public to properly dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medications.

“The goal of Operation Take Back is to ensure that unused medications are not abused and are removed from our medicine cabinets and other locations,” said Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp.

“A total of 659 pounds of unused medication was collected during the first Operation Take Back event in Morris County held earlier this year. We are hopeful that our residents will continue to support this important program by participating on Oct 26.”

There are three drop off points for the Oct. 26 event:

·   Stop and Shop (245 Littleton Road, Morris Plains)

·   ShopRite of Greater Morristown (178 East Hanover Avenue, Morristown)

Residents who are unable to drop off their medications on Oct. 26 are encouraged to deposit them in permanent drop box locations. For a list of all drop box locations, click HERE.
