DENVILLE, NJ - Keep your flowers fresh and healthy past the Valentine's Day holiday. With proper care, you can maximize the life of your beautifully cut flowers with these simple tips from Cindy Baker Southern, owner of Especially Yours Florist in Kenilworth, New Jersey.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures. Flowers don’t want to be too hot or too cold. Customers shouldn’t leave them in their car or in their garage.
  • Customers can also trim the stems every two days to help the flowers last longer in addition to changing the water.
  • Treat the flowers with Floralife, which is a flower preservative.
  • Fill two-thirds of the vase with water, enough to cover just the stems but no foliage.
