ROCKAWAY BOROUGH, NJ – A Dover High School student was struck by a car after attending a Morris Knolls/Morris Hills varsity football game at Morris Knolls on Fri., Sept. 13, according to a statement posted on the Facebook page of Dover Public Schools. The Facebook post further stated that the student was hit by a car while crossing Route 46. Denville Police confirmed that the accident occurred in Rockaway Borough.

According to Dover Public Schools, the student is being treated for serious injuries. The school administration has asked community members to keep the student and his family in their thoughts and prayers. The identity of the student and details concerning the incident are being withheld out of respect for the privacy of the student and his family.

The Dover school district made counseling available on Mon., Sept. 16, for any students who may have witnessed the accident or know the injured student. Morris Knolls and Morris Hills high school students also have been offered counseling if needed, confirmed James J. Jencarelli Jr., superintendent of Morris Hills Regional District, which governs both schools.
