ELIZABETH, NJ -- Mid-Atlantic Champions, Elmora Troopers, arrived home to a field full of fans cheering as they stepped off the bus on Thursday evening at Hanratty Field.

The fans came from towns all over the area and were practicing the “Jersey Shake” as they waited in anticipation of the arrival of the Elmora Troopers from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. As the bus pulled in, the cheering crowd gathered to welcome the boys and their coaches off the bus and to a reception in the field that included confetti cannons, a ceremony and autograph signing.

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage and many other dignitaries and the coaches honored the boys with words of praise.

Mayor Bollwage told the boys, “you didn’t see this, but I gotta tell you this, your parents, your grandparents, your aunts, your uncles, your brothers, your sisters and your cousins, were extremely proud of you.” With that, the crowd broke out in cheer.

The entire event is captured in the video below.

It was head coach Jairo Labrador and his assistant coaches who took the Elmora Troopers Little League team all the way to become the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Champions and the chance to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The team, Elmora “TROOPERS,” is named after New Jersey State Trooper Thomas J. Hanratty, who was killed in the line of duty April 2, 1992, in a motor vehicle accident. Trooper Hanratty was born in Elizabeth and played in the league growing up.
