Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Rockaway Police Chief Martin McParland joined Morris County Prosecutor’s Office detectives in educating shoppers at the Rockaway Townsquare mall about the hidden dangers to children posed by devices they receive for the holidays.

Launched by the New Jersey State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the campaign gives tips on cyberbullying, privacy, sexting and more to parents to consider when giving their children tech gifts.

The ICAC Task Force program was created to help state and local law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative response to offenders who use online communication systems to sexually exploit children.

Prosecutor Knapp said “The ICAC statewide campaign sponsored by the State Attorney General seeks to educate parents and children of the dangers hiding in the Internet. Predators who would harm our vulnerable children use applications, websites and other means to trap the unsuspecting. This campaign provides valuable information to help thwart those efforts and to protect children from predators.”
