DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls varsity ice hockey, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys swimming, and wrestling saw action over the weekend with varying degrees of success.

The Morris Knolls ice hockey team again tied Randolph, 1-1, during the teams’ second encounter of the season on Fri., Jan. 24, at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown. The teams’ first game of the season against each other ended in a 3-3 tie. Jason Kwestel scored the tying goal in the third period on Friday, assisted by Timmy Kepler and Andrew Ryan. Goalie Elliot Marken had 22 saves. The 8-5-3 Golden Eagles will face Chatham (8-4-2) on Mon., Jan. 27, at 6:30 p.m., at Mennen Sports Arena.

Morris Knolls boys and girls basketball fell to Montville, 51-28 and 64-35, respectively on Fri., Jan. 24. Chase Ingram had the team high for the boys with eight points while Emily Mitarotonda had the game high of 17 for the girls. The boys (2-9) will host McNair (2-10) on Mon., Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. The girls (6-7) will play Jefferson (12-1) at home on Tue., Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.

The Morris Knolls girls swim team placed sixth of 17 and the boys took 16th of 18 in the annual Morris County Tournament at Morristown High School on Sat., Jan. 25. Bailey Rynkiewicz, Katrina Vianello, Caroline Weldon and Tara Wiarda earned 62 points for the girls. Matt Baresh, Danny Callahan, Joey Longo and Daniel Yassa notched six for the boys. Both teams will conclude the regular season against Morris Hills on Wed., Jan. 29, at the County College of Morris at 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles wrestling team defeated Cedar Grove and Lenape Valley, 63-18 and 52-21, respectively, but lost to Jefferson, 40-29, at Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope of Sat., Jan. 25. Dominic DelleMonache (126 pounds) and Thomas Rooney (160 pounds) pinned their opponents in two of three matches. The team (10-4) will host Randolph (3-9) on Wed., Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.
