DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls varsity sports experienced a tie (field hockey), loss (volleyball) and victory (football) over the weekend.

Morris Knolls field hockey tied Mount Olive, 2-2, at home on Fri, Oct 18, in its final game of the regular season. Katie Borowski and Shannon Pollard scored one goal each. Claudia Ahuatzin earned two assists, and Borowski made one. Goalie Jordan Cifrodella had two saves, and Margaret Jancerek had one. The ninth-seed Lady Eagles (6-8-2) will face eighth-seed Wayne Hills (3-11) on the road in the first round of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association state sectional tournament on Tue, Oct 22, at 4 p.m.

Nine-seed Morris Knolls fell to one-seed West Morris Central in two straight games (25-21, 26-24) in the quarterfinal round of the Morris County Tournament on Sat, Oct 19. The Golden Eagles (9-9) will face West Morris Central (13-5) once again in a regular season match on Tue, Oct 22, at home. The match will start at 4 p.m.

Morris Knolls football outplayed Roxbury, 30-14, at home on Sat, Oct 19. Nick Parente scored a touchdown in the second quarter, Patrick Sinegra ran the ball into the end zone in the third and fourth quarters, and Steven Vittorio made a 45-yard touchdown interception in the fourth quarter. Sinegra succeeded on all four extra point attempts. An additional two points came from a safety in the fourth quarter. Morris Knolls (4-2) will play their last home game of the regular season on Marching Band Senior Day, Sat, Oct 26, at 1 p.m. against West Morris Central (5-2).
