DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls volleyball and football experienced losses over the weekend while girls and boys soccer notched victories against their opponents.

Morris Knolls volleyball fell to Sparta at home on Fri, Oct 25, in two straight games (25-19, 25-19) in their last outing of the regular season. The seeding for the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) sectional tournament will be announced Mon, Oct 28, at which time the team will find out whether its 9-13 overall record made the cut.

West Morris Central proved to be too much for the Knolls football team to handle, outscoring the Golden Eagles 35-14 on Sat, Oct 26, at Morris Knolls. Sean Beller scored a touchdown for the Eagles on a five-yard run in the first quarter. Patrick Sinegra had a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Sinegra also connected on both extra points. Morris Knolls (4-3) will play its final game of the regular season against Northern Highlands (5-2) on Fri, Nov 1. The game starts at 6 p.m.

In their final games of the regular season (a double-header against Morris Hills on Sat, Oct 26, at Gardner Field in Denville), Morris Knolls girls and boys soccer only allowed their opponents one goal apiece. The girls finished 5-1, the boys 2-1.

Madison Palma scored all five goals for the Lady Eagles. Selenya Bautista and Presley Anderson earned two assists each. Goalkeeper Katelyn Walsh made three saves. Morris Knolls (6-6-5) enters the NJSIAA sectional tournament as the nine seed. The team will face eight-seed Fair Lawn (12-7) on the road in the first round of sectionals on Mon, Oct 28, at 2:15 p.m.

Riley Van Orden scored both goals for the boys, assisted on one by Gianangelo Dichio. Goalie Sam Babicz had four saves. The Golden Eagles (9-10-1) enter the first round of the sectional tournament as the 16 seed. They will face top-seed Ridgewood (12-7) on the road, Tue, Oct 29, at 4:15 p.m.
