DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls boys soccer notched two victories over the weekend while football and girls tennis suffered defeats.

The Golden Eagles girls varsity tennis team fell to Randolph, 3-2, at home on Fri., Sept. 20. Morris Knolls’s Emily Egan defeated Olivia Lazar 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10-7). Meghan Chegwidden and Gabrielle Thomas defeated Randolph’s Emma Halper and Ashley Becker 6-4, 7-5. The 6-3 Golden Eagles will face Morristown (4-5) at Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown on Mon., Sept. 23, at 4 p.m.

Morris Knolls football failed to put points on the scoreboard in its second outing of the season. Randolph defeated Morris Knolls 14-0 on Fri., Sept. 20, at Randolph. Despite getting the ball close to the goal line several times, Morris Knolls was unable to penetrate Randolph’s defense. The 1-1 Golden Eagles play next on Sat., Sept. 28, at home at 1 p.m. against Mount Olive (1-2). The game is the school’s annual homecoming.

Morris Knolls boys soccer shut out Parsippany Hills, 4-0, at home on Sat., Sept. 21. Juan Betancur-Ortiz scored two goals, and Andrew Sceurman and Bobby Egner scored one goal apiece. Egner, Owen Tanis and Riley Van Orden made one assist each. Sean Boen and Sam Babicz shared goalkeeping responsibilities with four saves each. The team travels to Randolph (4-2-1) on Tue., Sept. 24, for a 6 p.m. start.

Twelve-seed Morris Knolls boys soccer concluded the weekend with a 1-0 shutout against 21- seed Kinnelon at home in the preliminary round of the Morris County Tournament on Sun. Sept. 22. Sceurman scored the game’s only goal, assisted by Pavlo Penca. Babicz made 10 saves. Morris Knolls (4-3-1) advances to the first round of the tournament to face five-seed Boonton (6-0-1).
