DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls football, girls tennis and girls soccer added victories to their records over the weekend while field hockey and boys soccer went scoreless.

Morris Knolls field hockey fell to Mountain Lakes, 2-0, on the road Fri., Sept. 27. Goalie Margaret Jancerak faced 16 shots on goal and saved 14. The 5-5 Golden Eagles will host Lenape Valley (4-5) at home on Fri., Oct. 4, at 5:30 p.m.

Girls varsity tennis swept Roxbury at home in all five matches on Fri., Sept. 27. Nofar (Lily) Katzav defeated her opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Emily Egan shut out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Skylar Walder was victorious, 6-1, 6-0. Shaine Galon and Shreya Joshi came out on top, 6-1, 6-0. Meghan Chegwidden and Gabrielle Thomas got the win, 6-0, 6-1. The 8-4 team next travels to Sparta (8-1) on Tue., Oct. 1, for a 4 p.m. game start.

Morris Knolls football bested Mount Olive by one point, 13-12, on Sat.., Sept. 28, at Knolls’s homecoming game. Sean Beller got Morris Knoll’s first touchdown with a one-yard run in the third quarter. Patrick Sinegra connected on the point after. Scott Pirello scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter also with a one-yard carry. The extra point attempt failed. The 2-1 Golden Eagles will travel to Delbarton (2-2) in Morristown on Sat., Oct. 5. The game will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Boys soccer’s Morris County Tournament play came to an end when the twelve-seed team went scoreless on the road against five-seed Boonton’s one-goal win on Sun., Sept. 29. With a 5-5-1 record, the Golden Eagles will resume regular season play against Kittatinny (2-6-1) on the road on Wed., Oct 2, at 4 p.m.

Five-seed Morris Knolls girls soccer ended the weekend with a two-to-one shootout against twelve-seed Roxbury in the Morris County Tournament on Sun. Sept. 29. Madison Palma sailed the ball into the net in the first half of regulation play and netted both goals during the shootout. Katelyn Walsh earned five saves. The 3-4-2 Golden Eagles advance to the quarterfinals to face fourth-seed Hanover Park (7-1).
