DENVILLE, NJ -- In a highly anticipated announcement, Gov. Phil Murphy said Wed Dec 30 at his COVID-19 press briefing that indoor sports may resume on Sat Jan 2, with safety protocols in place. However, the regional suspension of interstate youth hockey competitions will continue through at least Jan 31.

New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), the governing body for high school sports in the state, reacted:

“NJSIAA welcomes the governor’s announcement and continued support, and looks forward to the beginning of the indoor, winter, scholastic sports season – specifically, NJSIAA season 2." - NJSIAA statement
