EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - In a low scoring affair the Bears were able to pull out a 3-1 win over the Hillsborough Raiders.

 

The Bears jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. With runners on first and third EB senior, Tyler Burnham hit a double into right field scoring one run. A few batters later Bears junior, James Schuld hit a ground ball to the shortstop allowing the runner to score. The Bears quickly had a 2-0 lead.

 

Tyler Burnham had the start on the mound today for the Bears and pitched extremely well. In the second inning Hillsborough answered back with a run of their own to make it 2-1. After giving up one run, Burnham began to shut the Raiders down. Burnham pitched a complete game surrendering only 4 hits and 1 one run, while tallying 7 strikeouts.


In the 5th inning the Bears added an insurance run on a wild pitch to extend their lead to 3-1. The Bears did not need a lot of offense because of Burnham’s dominant performance. However, the juniors, Brad Edwards and David Bermudez collected two hits each at the plate.
