Dear Editor,

Serving the public as mayor of a large town gives me a great opportunity to appreciate the roles of our state representatives. Much of what we do locally is controlled and determined by policies made at the state level. The ability to communicate with dedicated state representatives can have great implications for those of us dealing with local problems. These issues can range from school funding to school policy, from tax policy to healthcare, from pensions to disability and much more. All of this will have a huge impact on the number one issue facing New Jersey residents - taxes.

I enthusiastically support and encourage residents in the 18th Legislative District to re-elect Senator Patrick Diegnan, Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin, and Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak. They have continued to fight for our residents and stand for the ideals of fair, honest, and open government. They are not afraid to tackle the big issues, they stand behind the values of hard working middle class workers, and they support women's rights, LGBTQ rights, and worker's rights. They are not afraid to address the controversial topics and they understand the struggles that most of us deal with at a local level. I know they have my back and the back of my whole community. They get it, they care, and they get results. In the end, that really is the definition of a public servant.

The Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani (Ballentine Books, 2005)

The Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani, a New York Times best selling author, was recommended to me by a young woman who actually came from the town of Roseto, Pennsylvania, the place where the novel is set. “The author did such a wonderful job of describing how the town actually is,” said the young lady.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah (St. Martin's Press, 2018)

What is the “final frontier” on the Earth's surface? Many people would say Alaska, the 49th state, which was added to the United States fifty years ago. Once one has traveled to that remote land, it is impossible to forget the magnificence of the terrain and beasts. Floating by ship in Glacier Bay, surrounded by ...
