NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — What kid doesn’t want to hang with a 15-foot Tyrannosaurus rex puppet?

That’s one of several attractions that will be available to attendees of Rutgers Geology Museum’s open house. The free, walk-ins-welcome event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 28 in the museum, 85 Somerset St., and Scott Hall, 43 College Ave.

While the open house will feature activities for children, including “make-and-take stations,” adults may also find their share of interesting programs.

Speakers plan to deliver presentations on volcanoes, gas in distant galaxies and the Appalachian Mountains, according to a press release. Each of those discussions will be held in Scott Hall.

Visitors may try their hand at identifying rocks and minerals. Minerals will also be for sale, according to the museum.

The Liberty Science Center and Field Station Dinosaurs will lead activities as well. That’s the group that plans to bring the T-rex puppet.

Speakers include experts from the American Museum of Natural History, Rutgers and Yale.
