‘Discover Natural NJ: From High Point to Cape May’ With Jim Peck, Sept. 19 at the East Brunswick Library

Nature writer and naturalist Jim Peck will show his photos and discuss beautiful and little known natural areas across New Jersey that are ideal for exploring or hiking at the next Option Green program at the East Brunswick Public Library, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Peck worked for more than three years as the education director of the American Littoral Society, a coastal conservation non-profit located on Sandy Hook. He also served for three years as executive director of the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary in Short Hills working to educate the public and restore native plants to the 16-acre site. 

He has traveled throughout the state over the past 12 years exploring and writing the Trail Mix nature column for the Home News Tribune. He has visited 49 states across the U.S. with just North Dakota to go.

The Option Green speakers series is offered by the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission in partnership with The Library. All programs are free and open to the public.

The Friends of EBEC is a nonprofit, all-volunteer citizens group dedicated to local environmental education and conservation. In addition to its Option Green speakers series the Friends sponsors National Moth Week, Freecycling Days, Amphibian Protection, Community Garden, Butterfly Park, Moth Nights and events that help to educate the public about the environment and sustainable practices.
