EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - It is hoops heaven for the East Brunswick High School boys and girls program, as both schools have been rewarded for their excellent seasons to date with high seeds for both the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament, as well as the New Jersey State Tournament.

The boys team, currently 13-6, earned a six seed in the GMC tournament, where they will start play against the winner of the JFK vs eleventh seeded Old Bridge matchup.  The game will be played at New Brunswick High School on Sunday February 22.  A victory in that game will advance the Bears to a likely semifinal matchup against third seeded and once beaten Cardinal McCarrick.  The Falcons of St. Josephs of Metuchen are the top seed, and are gunning for their sixth consecutive GMC title.

Bears coach Mark Motuesky's boys, led by star Matt Ross, will start play in the Central Jersey Group IV Section of the State Tournament on March 2 as the 5 seed, where they will play host to number 12 seed Howell at 7PM.

The ladies will also play Howell in the Central Jersey Group IV tournament, although the girls earned a four seed, while Howell is a thirteen seed.   Their game will also be played on March 2, starting at 5:30 PM at East Brunswick High School.

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
