MILLBURN, NJ — In a war of attrition that went all the way to double overtime, the East Brunswick team scraped out a 2-2 tie against Millburn Tuesday afternoon.
Ryan Garfinkle scored early for the Millers, but East Brunswick tied it up on a penalty kick goal by Andre Shelton, and then early in the second half, jumped ahead on a breakout, with Joseph Carbone putting the ball into the goal for the Bears' first lead of the game with an assist from Shelton.
Millburn however, would not be deterred, as Zach Evenchick punched home a rebound with just over 10 minutes to go in regulation, knotting the score up at two apiece, where it would stay through the end of regulation, as well as both overtime periods.
Gabe Espada finished with eight saves for the Bears (3-1-1). Millburn (4-0-1) remains undefeated.
