EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -- Two members of the East Brunswick football team were named to the All-Greater Middlesex Conference team for 2019.
In addition, four other players received recognition as All-Red Division selections, as chosen by conference coaches.
Youssef Gamel, a senior who played on both the offensive and defensive lines, and senior two-way lineman Christian Richards of East Brunswick both are among the players cited on the overall All-GMC team.
Fullback/linebacker Carlos Tapia, junior RB/DB Austin Percy, junior quarterback Matt DeGuida and senior tight end/defensive end Sean Ring were Bears players who were named to the Red Division team, along with Gamel and Richards.
With a 4-5 record under Andy Steinfeld in his first year as the head coach after decades as an assistant, East Brunswick posted its best record in nine years. The Bears hadn't won more than two games in a season since 2015.
