East Brunswick, NJ - Alexandra Gonzalez gets it. She knows that being a Girl Scout goes beyond the meetings and the badges. It means spreading goodness and positivity throughout the community in which one lives. It means giving.
Faced with over a thousand extra boxes of Girl Scout cookies (I still don't see the problem!) Gonzalez and her father wondered what to do with them. She then came up with the idea to go to the stores and stations in East Brunswick and Milltown and share the goodies with the workers who encounter us all every day. She brought some Samoas and Thin Mints to WaWa and Rite-Aid, to the police station, to the Fire Department, to Starbucks and Boston Market, and to local small businesses along Ryder's Lane and around Rutgers University.
She even stopped a couple of times at East Brunswick's VFW Post #133 to share some S'mores with Tommy Coohill and the vets.
"I hope you enjoy this video (attached)" said Gonzalez, "I hope we all learn to give back to the community and to continue doing the things that make you happy."
Maybe next time she will invite some of us to "tagalong."
