EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Mayor Brad Cohen and the Township Council will preside over a memorial service for those residents of East Brunswick who lost their lives during the the September 11, 2001 attack on America on Wednesday, September 11, at 7:30 pm at Veterans Park at the Municipal Complex.
The 9/11 terrorist attacks hold special significance for East Brunswick due to The Jersey Girls or Jersey Widows, four American women who lost their husbands in the September 11 attacks. All four, Kristen Breitweiser, Patty Casazza, Lorie Van Auken, and Mindy Kleinberg, were residents of New Jersey, and helped lobby the U.S. government to carry out an investigation into the terrorist attacks, resulting in the formation of the 9/11 Commission and the subsequent report released by the Commission.
