EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Patrol Units responded to a residence on Mercedes Road on Tuesday, July 21 for a burglary that occurred overnight, between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.

The residents were home at the time of the burglary but were asleep in their bedrooms upstairs. The adult residents did not hear the burglar(s) in the house because they had an air-conditioning unit and a sleep machine running in the bedroom. Unknown persons broke the rear glass sliding door to gain entry to the house. They then ransacked the downstairs and part of the upstairs of the residence. At this time, it does not appear that anything was taken from the residence.

During this same time frame a burglary also occurred at the Pitstop MiniMart on Old Stage Road.  At the Pitstop burglary, a landscape rock was used to break the glass window.  The burglar(s) entered the business and removed several drawers from the registers.  An unknown amount of money was taken from the business.  It is unknown at this time if anything else was taken from the business.
