EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - A pedestrian was injured in an accident during rush hour on Monday while trying to cross the street at the intersection of Dunhams Corner Road and Ryders Lane.

At approximately 7:11 a.m., East Brunswick Police Units responded to the report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection which connects two major roads in East Brunswick.

The accident investigation revealed that a 2016 Mercedes Benz, driven by Gui Song of East Brunswick, was traveling eastbound on Dunhams Corner Road, attempting to turn northbound onto Ryders Lane. A pedestrian was crossing Ryders Lane in the crosswalk at the intersection with Dunhams Corner Road.

Song failed to observe the pedestrian in advance and as a result struck the pedestrian.  The pedestrian was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for a hip injury. 

Song was issued summonses for careless driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian within a marked crosswalk 

The roadway was closed for approximately an hour during the investigation.
