EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick and Old Bridge football teams will renew their Thanksgiving rivalry for the 23d time when they meet Thursday morning at 11:00 in Old Bridge.

The rivalry was a heated one back in the days when Old Bridge had two high schools and East Brunswick played Madison Central every year. East Brunswick has been playing Old Bridge on Turkey Day since the merger of Madison Central and Cedar Ridge high schools created Old Bridge H.S. in 1994.

East Brunswick brings a 2-7 record into this year's game, which kicks off at 10 a.m. at Lombardi Field off Route 9 in Old Bridge, but the Bears are coming off a 34-0 victory over Perth Amboy. Old Bridge is 5-4-1.

Quarterback James Schuld is both the leading passer (1,100 yards, 5 TD passes) and leading rusher (540 yards) for East Brunswick. Kyle Wiggins has scored eight TDs and rushed for 500 yards and Alex Cameron has caught four TD passes while averaging 20 yards on his 18 total receptions. Cameron also has two interceptions for the East Brunswick defense

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
