EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Partying in the wrong place led to some charges against local young people.

On June 26, 2018 at 10:43 pm, Ptl. John Hoernlein observed an occupied vehicle on the top level of the East Brunswick Transportation Center, 551 Old Bridge Turnpike. The Transportation Center parking garage is for vehicles with parking permits and "No Trespassing" signs are posted at each entrance.     

While speaking to the occupants, Nellson Torres, 22 of East Brunswick, NJ, Ithai Gonzalez and Aurora Chacon-Lopez, both 19 and from South River, NJ, Ptl. Hoernlein detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle, according to a report issued by the East Brunswick Police Department.

During the course of the investigation, Ptl. Hoernlein arrested Torres for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Torres was also issued a summons for Open Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.  Additionally, Torres and the female occupants were all issued township ordinances for Trespassing.

The East Brunswick Police Department will continue to a presence at the township-owned parking facilities due to recent reports of vandalism and loitering.
