EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The three East Brunswick Boy Scout Troops united last weekend in an effort to raise much-needed donations for the Middlesex County Food Bank (MC FOODS).

Troop 223, which meets at Bowne-Munro School and is sponsored by the East Brunswick Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #133; Troop 132, which is sponsored by Trinity Presbyterian Church on Dunham's Corner Road; and Troop 109, which is sponsored by St. Bartholomew's Church on Ryder's Lane, combined their efforts to gather canned tuna, pasta, canned vegetables, diapers, rice, canned soup and other necessities for the needy of Middlesex County.

On Saturday and Sunday, the boys collected outside of the Milltown Acme and the Stop and Shop and ShopRite in East Brunswick to serve the community.

Silas, a Cub Scout from Den 5 of Pack 223, said, "It feels good to help the Food Bank. We are working hard." Jeff Scott, Scoutmaster of Troop 132, saw the food collection as a "good opportunity to inform the community about scouting. We enjoy doing something together for the community, and we learn how to work together to accomplish something worthwhile."
