EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - PSE&G’s $8.6 million project to make gas delivery to local homes safer, cleaner, and more efficient is making headway in East Brunswick, according to PSE&G officials.
Gas main upgrades have been completed on Green Acres Ave., Ellwood Ave., Harvey Cir., Melvin Ave., Hilltop Blvd., Glen Ct., Milltown Rd., Farms Rd., Andover Dr., 4th Ave., W. Amherst St., and Brookhill Rd., while work continues on Ainsworth Ave., Branco Pl., Aldrich St., and Highland St. Service upgrades will continue on Harvey Cir., Melvin Ave., Hilltop Blvd., Grant Ave., Glen Ct., Channing Rd., Lois Ave., Greenwood Ct., Blair Ct., Northfield Ave., Ellwood Ave., Highview Rd., Wolff Ave., Mansfield Ave., Quincy Dr., Laurie Dr., and Green Acres Ave.
The upgrades began in March as a part of PSE&G's Gas System Modernization Project (GSMP). PSE&G is committed to providing the best possible service to customers. GSMP is a significant investment in the safety, reliability and long-term viability of the natural gas system. When the upgrades are complete, PSE&G will have replaced nearly six miles of cast-iron pipes with new, more durable plastic pipes.
As work proceeds, residents may experience temporary road closures. Police will be on hand to direct pedestrian and automotive traffic. Roads will remain open to local traffic, and residents will always have access to their driveways while PSE&G crews complete the work.
In the coming weeks, PSE&G will begin replacing gas mains on Hillsdale Rd., Dalston St., Devoes Ln., Cleveland Ave., Harrison Ave., McKinley Ave, and Route 18. PSE&G technicians will continue to work with homeowners to schedule appointments to connect their properties to the new gas lines.
In an effort to minimize disruption as the work progresses, PSE&G will continue to reach out to impacted residents through reverse 911 calls shortly before work will affect their streets.
