The 4-H citizenship program is for ages 14-19 and aims to enrich young people’s lives by broadening their knowledge and understanding of the Executive Branch of Government. It also helps participants develop good citizenship skills through service, civic education and engagement.

During the event, 4-H delegates will attend workshop, hear speakers, take part in a town hall meeting and engage in a service project. These activities will give them hands-on opportunities to learn and grow.  The conference’s goal is for the participants to learn the meaning and importance of the Democratic process, explore the history of the Presidency, the election process, and the role of the press, discover the intricacies of the Executive Branch of Government and to explore careers in politics. During the week in Washington conference delegates will also have the opportunity to visit memorials, historical sites and museums in Washington, D.C. and experience the Inaugural Day events of the 45th President including the Oath of Office, Presidential Address and Inauguration Parade.

“This event will be a great opportunity for young people to learn about our government, and perhaps inspire some of the bright political minds of tomorrow,” said Middlesex Freeholder Director Ronald G Rios.  We are very proud Hallie Baum will be representing Middlesex County at this conference and we wish her the best of luck.”

“Middlesex County’s 4-H enables young people to learn and practice skills that will make them better citizens and start them on the road to success,” said Freeholder Kenneth Armwood, chair of the Business Development and Education Committee. “This conference will allow Hallie Baum and her fellow delegates to apply the core values of this essential program to real-life politics.”
