EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Just after 11:30 this morning, East Brunswick Police and the East Brunswick Fire Department responded to the report of a fatal accident at the Standard Waste Services Facility at 21 Edgeboro Road.  A person who was trapped in a trash compactor was dead when officials arrived on the scene.

EBPD police acknowledged that they were "in the process of investigating an industrial accident" at the facility which services several companies as a waste off-loading site.

When contacted, Standard Waste Services had no comment on the accident.

According to statistics supplied by the United States Department of Labor, accidents of this type, though not frequent, produce devastating results.
