SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Edison girls basketball team pulled off one of the upsets of the season with a 64-50 victory over top-seeded East Brunswick in the semifinal round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament on Monday.

Samira Sargent led four Edison scorers in double figures with 19 points. Lourdes Marasigan finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for Edison (13-11), which established a 31-24 halftime lead.

Daniella Marmol had 12 points and six rebounds for the Eagles, and Virginia Lagdameo scored 10 points in the victory. Edison was led on the boards by Kenisha Chester with 12 rebounds.

Brianna Sliwinski led East Brunswick (19-3) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Nicole Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds for the Bears, and Alyssa Bondi scored 11 points.

Edison will play second-seeded Piscataway in the GMC Tournament championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Rutgers Athletic Center.
