EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Monroe overcame an early four-point deficit with a big second quarter en route to a 56-43 girls basketball victory over East Brunswick in the first round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Wednesday night.

The 11th-seeded Falcons erased a 15-11 deficit with a 15-6 run in the second quarter to take a 26-21 lead. Monroe extended that lead with a 9-4 showing in the third quarter.

Junior forward Nicole Johnson scored 19 points for sixth-seeded East Brunswick (11-10). Alyssa Bondi finished with 12 points for the Bears.
