EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Next Monday, June 1 at 12 PM, Hammarskjold Middle School Principal Dr. Michael Gaskell has been selected to teach a lesson on NJTV, as part of the New Jersey Learning Live series. NJTV Learning Live is a unique on-air instructional series to help kids learn remotely. Created by NJTV in partnership with the New Jersey Education Association and the NJ Department of Education, hour-long classes for grades 3-6 are taught by NJ public school teachers.
Gaskell's lesson is focused on public speaking and presentation, as per of New Jersey's Middle School literacy standards.
He has sent a message to district teachers suggesting the lesson to teachers who may like to assign class as an alternative for students next week.
It would be a fun experience, as they watch one of their school educators teach them a lesson. I am told 100,00 kids in New Jersey watch these episodes! In the lesson, I provide prompts in the lesson, such as three things you learned, so you may wish to use that as your assignment," said Gaskell. "I hope some of our HMS kids get to see the lesson- it’s a great message on the power of persuasive argument, organizing your speaking points, and presentation methods."
