EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - In a game that had everyone at the edge of their seats, the Lady Bears of East Brunswick High School soccer defeated Jackson High School by a final score of 2-1 to advance to the semifinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV Tournament.

Jackson took an early 1-0 lead, but the Lady Bears bounced right back, with Ellie DiLiberto scoring twice before halftime. The Lady Bears made the halftime score hold up, as a strong defense and solid play by goalie Alex Kalafor kept the lead intact.

The Lady Bears advance to a semifinal showdown with the winner of the game between Hunterdon Central and Freehold Township.

In a related score, the hoped for championship rematch with top seeded Old Bridge was put to bed, when Old Bridge was upset after a scoreless regulation, losing on penalty kicks (3-0) to Manalapan High School. They will face Montgomery in the other semifinal match.
