NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Congregation B’nai Tikvah located at 1001 Finnegans Lane, North Brunswick, will host local author, Miriam Dobin, as she discusses her book, I Am Because of You on Sunday April 23rd at 10:00amShe will share her extraordinary story about her family's unbreakable will to survive the Holocaust and the unexpected miracle of a child who held them together in a new world.

I Am Because of You is a moving account of Dobin’s life as a child of Holocaust survivors. Raised by a loving aunt and uncle, also survivors, while her mother struggled with illness and her father worked long days, she grew up and, finding a perfect match, raised a family of her own.  Her tale of a family that barely survived annihilation crosses the generations, entwining stories of her parents and grandparents with those of her own children. It climaxes in a trip to Slovakia and western Ukraine, where she and her husband meet people who remember her family. Past and future converge when her newborn granddaughter is given the name Esther after Dobin’s beloved aunt.

“We are thrilled to host this incredible author and second generation Holocaust survivor in recognition of Yom Hashoah,” stated Rabbi Robert Wolkoff.  “Hearing from individuals like Ms. Dobin reinforces the importance of the Holocaust and is a reminder that we must never forget the travesty and tragedy of what occurred.”
