SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Police are actively seeking leads and information about a stabbing in the early morning hours Friday.
According to police, a passing motorist called around 2 a.m. to report an injured man on the shoulder of Ridge Road near the Corn Road intersection.
The man, identified only as a 25-year-old New York City resident, had several stab wounds to his body when police arrived on the scene.
The Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad transported him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he underwent surgery for his injuries, police said.
He is listed in stable condition, according to police.
Township police are working with the New York City Police Department to investigate where and how the stabbing took place, but do not believe it to be a random act, police said.
