Polito, Gleason, Schleifer of East Brunswick Wrap Up Successful Wrestling Seasons in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - East Brunswick's trio of wrestlers concluded very successful seasons at the NJSIAA wrestling tournament at Boardwalk Hall this weekend.

At 113 pounds, Mitchell Polito of East Brunswick defeated Kenny Kerwin of Passaic Valley, 11-2, in the preliminary round; defeated Enrique Sanchez of Queen of Peace, 3-1, in the pre-quarterfinal round; then lost to Antonio Mininno of Gateway, 3-1, in the quarterfinals. This was Polito's first loss of the season.
Polito defeated Richie Koehler of Christian Brothers, 10-6, in a fourth-round wrestleback; defeated Colin Wickramaratna of Cherokee, 5-2, in a wrestleback quarterfinal; and defeated Enrique Sanchez again Sunday, 5-2, for third place at 113. Polito was 34-1 this winter.

At 126 pounds, Alec Gleason of East Brunswick defeated Matt Surich of Mahwah, 10-2, in the prelim, then lost to Anthony Duca of Paulsboro by pin at 3:06 in the pre-quarterfinal round. Gleason defeated Justin Cariss of Highland, 8-4, in a fourth-round wrestleback; then beat Cody Harrison of Phillipsburg, 6-3, in a wrestleback quarterfinal. Gleason pinned Dan Parcelay of DePaul in 44 seconds for fifth place at 126. Gleason finished the season with a 34-4 record.

At 120 pounds, Mark Schleifer of EB defeated Jiva Gannone of Rancocas Valley, 8-0, in the prelim;
defeated Darby Diedrich of Howell, 3-0, in the pre-quarterfinal round; then lost to Joe Heilmann of South Plainfield, 2-1, in the quarterfinals. Michael Kelly of St. Peter's Prep defeated Schleifer, 4-1, in a fourth-round wrestleback. Schleifer finished his season with a 38-3 record.
