EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – PSE&G officials have announced that, with the bulk of the gas main and service replacement work completed in neighborhoods across East Brunswick, crews are now focused on taking old gas mains out of service.
This work – slated in the coming weeks for areas including Yates Dr., Burnham Rd., 4th St., Cleveland Ave., Harrison Ave., McKinley Ave., Orchard Ave., Lakeview Ave., Branco Pl., Ainsworth Ave., Dunham’s Corner Rd., Hillsdale Rd., Dalston St., and Devoes Ln. – includes workers excavating small holes and retiring old gas mains that were replaced as part of the project.
While residents and travelers may continue to experience temporary traffic diversions, local police officers will be on hand to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
“We are grateful for the cooperation of East Brunswick’s residents while our work crews have made these upgrades as part of PSE&G’s five-year program to replace over 800 miles of aging gas infrastructure throughout New Jersey,” Vice President of Gas Operations for PSE&G Joe Forline said. “We are proud to be a part of this great community and know that the upgrades will improve reliability, reduce the possibility of leaks, help protect the environment, and ensure the continued safety of gas service for our customers.”
Additional main installation and services work is still outstanding along portions of Route 18. PSE&G will keep residents, businesses and drivers apprised of scheduling.
