SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ  - Rutgers wrestlers, Anthony Ashnault and Ken Theobold were honored by the New Jersey State Senate on June 29, 2017. At the conclusion of its voting session Senator Patrick Diegnan presented the honorees with a Resolution that unanimously passed the New Jersey State Senate.

"Anthony Ashnault is a testament to what makes my home town of South Plainfield such a great place to raise a family. Our wrestling program has been consistently recognized as a top tier team in the state and Anthony brought that reputation to a new level." said Senator Patrick J. Diegnan, Jr. (D-Middlesex). "We are proud of Anthony, Ken Theobold and the nationally recognized Rutgers wrestling program for showing that All-American wrestlers can come from talent, hard work and determination left on the mats in the Garden State."

Anthony Ashnault became the first three-time All-American in Scarlet Knight history. Rutgers has produced at least one All-American in each of the past four seasons and six overall under head coach Scott Goodale. With Ashnault and Ken Theobold advancing to the podium at the 2017 NCAA Wrestling Championships, it marked just the third time in program history that it has had two place winners.

Senator Diegnan observed "It is no surprise that Anthony has such a record of accomplishments. His mom and dad, Bill and Sue taught him and his brother and sister the value of hard work and focus from childhood. The Ashnault family embodies the spirit of South Plainfield. I know that Anthony's future will be filled with continued success and accomplishment."
