Shop Rite Parking Lot: Charges of Lewdness and Drug Possession

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - A complaint by a local resident led to the arrest of a man for lewdness and additional charges of the possession and distribution of illegal drugs on Saturday.

On May 6, patrol units were dispatched to the area of Shop Rite at 300 Hwy. 18 for the report of a male performing a lewd act inside his vehicle in the parking lot. The complainant stated the suspect vehicle drove away in an unknown direction, according to a report issued by Lt. Sean Goggins of the East Brunswick Police Department today.

Ptl. Dennis Chieffo arrived in the area and began looking for the suspect vehicle. Chieffo observed the suspect vehicle being driven by a male, later identified as William Corley 2nd, 38, of Piscataway, and initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Whitehead Ave in South River.

Upon making contact with Corley, Chieffo detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the Dodge. Chieffo had Corley exit the vehicle in order to speak with him further regarding the incident at Shop Rite. Once out of the vehicle, Chieffo continued to detect the odor of marijuana coming from his person as well as from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of Corley and his vehicle revealed a digital cigarette with a cannabis oil cartridge, 13 bags of suspected marijuana, 1 additional cannabis oil cartridge, 1 marijuana cigar, 5 THC infused gummies, 1 cannabis oil container and  7 individual clear, plastic baggies containing suspected cocaine.

Corley was placed under arrest at this time and charged with Distribution of Cocaine, Distribution of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Hash Oil and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After Corley was  charged with the drug offenses in South River, Ptl. Chieffo transported him to the East Brunswick Police Department to further investigate the original lewdness complaint.  At East Brunswick Police Headquarters, Corley was interviewed and admitted to the lewd act at Shop Rite on this date as well as 3 additional lewd acts of a similar nature in East Brunswick, dating back to 2016.  Corley was charged with multiple counts of Lewdness and lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in lieu of a bail hearing on all charges.
