SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A 65-year-old South River man is in critical conditions after a tree fell on him Thursday afternoon, according to police.

South Brunswick Police posted several items on their Twitter account Thursday saying that the unidentified man was cutting down an 80-foot tree on Deans Rhode Hall Road, when it fell on him shortly after noon.

A State Police helicopter flew the man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with life threatening injuries.

He remained in critical condition as of 5 p.m., according to police.
