SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Police, in conjunction with Middlesex County, are offering a reward for information regarding Sunday morning’s shooting during a botched robbery at a Route 27 gas station that left the attendant in serious condition.

In a press release Monday afternoon, Chief of Police Raymond Hayducka said the department is offering a reward for information about the robbery attempt at the BP Gas Station on Route 27 at the Alston Road intersection.

“We believe there are people out there with information that can help us close this case,” Hayducka said in the release. “Our victim was just working extra hours to get ahead and he was shot. You can call, remain anonymous, and collect a reward for the information. That one call can make a difference.”

Detectives are sifting through the evidence collected at the crime scene in the early hours Sunday.

According to police, Police were called to the BP gas station at the corner of Route 27 and Alston Road at 4:23 a.m. Sunday morning to investigate a robbery and shooting, police said Sunday afternoon.

According to police, officers found a 60-year-old male gas station attendant shot several times.

Police said the victim was shot by occupants of a white vehicle that fled on Route 27 after the shooting.

Kendall Park First Aid Squad and paramedics took the wounded attendant to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he has undergone surgery and remains in serious condition, police said.

Police said they are looking for the public’s assistance in locating any video or witnesses from residences or businesses near the location of the incident, Route 27 and Alston Road, and want to see video from between 4:15 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. showing a white vehicle.

“These types of crimes are extremely rare in our community,” Hayducka said in a press release Sunday. “We are following all leads and working with our County and State law enforcement partners to capture these suspects.”

Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc. is offering a reward to anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension of the suspect responsible for the shooting. Callers can remain anonymous and can contact Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc. via phone or website.

The phone number is: 1-800-939-9600. The website is: middlesextips.com. Text messages may be sent to 274637 (CRIMES) with the keyword ‘’midtip’’ followed by a message.

Those who call will be given instructions on how to collect cash rewards by using a numerical code that will be recognized by a local bank, which will pay the rewards following approval by Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc.
