Spotswood 5K is Calling All Runners and Walkers

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood Recreation Department is calling all area runners and walkers to join the annual Spotswood 5K Walk & Race on Saturday, September 10.

The yearly late summer 3.1-mile trek through the borough's picturesque and histortic streets is open to both runners and walkers with three different events taking place, including a one-mile Fun Run.

The Fun Run is off and running at 8:30 a.m. while the 5K Walk kicks off at 8:45 a.m. Runners will line up at 9 a.m. for the start of the 5K Race.

All of the proceeds from the event go to support athletic teams at Spotswood High School. This year, the proceeds will be donated to the Spotswood High School boys and girls soccer teams.

The registration fee for the 5K run or walk prior to September 1 is $25. Late registration is $30 as is race day registration. Registration fees for the Fun Run are $20 before September 1. The late registration fee for the Fun Run is $25.

T-Shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. Extra t-shirts will be availabe on race day, but only while supplies last.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K Race. Winners must be present to receive their awards.

The start line for the race is behind Spotswood High School, which is located at 105 Summerhill Road in Spotswood.

The 3.1 mile course is predominantly flat with very little incline.

Registration can be done online. Sign up now and receive $5 off the registration fees. A registration form can also be downloaded at the Spotswood Recreation Department's Facebook page. The form can be mailed to Spotswood 5K, 305 Burlington Avenue, Spotswood, NJ, 08884. Checks should be made payable to the Borough of Spotswood.

Race day registration will be available from 7 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.
