EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Jersey Shore American Youth Football/Cheer league held their League Cheerleading Championship on Saturday and the St. Bart's Bufflalos program sent four teams to compete--and left the tournament with two champions and two second-place winners.  All four teams have qualified to compete in the Big East Regional Championship in mid-November.

The Mitey Mite and Jr Pee Wee Cheerleaders, which consist of girls ages 6-10, both took second place.  This was the first competition for the girls at these levels.

The Pee Wee and Jr. Midget Cheer Teams are veterans of the competition events and their experience showed as both took first place in their divisions.  Not only did these girls have to compete against Jersey Shore AYC Teams, they had to compete with their own legacy--the girls that are now Jr. Midgets are two-time defending National Champions. Living up to their high expectations isn't easy for the Jr. Midgets and trying to follow their older teammates success isn't easy for the Pee Wees.

All four teams have been practicing three nights a week indoors since Labor Day, after conditioning for four nights a week in August--all in their quest to be National Champions.  The girls will get right back to the mats and prepare to compete at the Big East Regional Championship in November.

Buffalo Football teams ended their regular seasons this weekend with a series of home games, culminating with the 'Commissioner's Cup' featuring the two Flag Football Teams--with both teams coming out as winners.  Next weekend the Flag, Jr. Mitey Mite and Mitey Mite teams will participate in Bowl Games to celebrate their football improvement during the season.  The three competition teams, Jr. Pee Wees, Pee Wees and Jr Midgets will all hit the road for the playoffs as all three teams took second place in their divisions during the regular season.

Buffalos Football & Cheer is open to boys and girls, ages 5-15, from East Brunswick, Milltown, Spotswood and Helmetta, and additional information can be found by visiting www.stbartsbuffalos.com or Facebook.com/stbartsbuffalos.
